Topic: Big Fun 2, Unit 6, Lesson 3; WEATHER
Audience: +4yo, Group or VIP class
Est Time: 10-20 mins
Supplies: Umbrella, other classroom objects
PROCEDURE:
-Hold an umbrella above your head and ask the children what you have, then what you are wearing, eliciting the correct key sentences. ("You have an umbrella" "You are wearing _____")
-Invite a volunteer to sit beneath the umbrella. Ask the class what he or she has, then what they are wearing.
-Let students take turns sitting beneath the umbrella and having their peers answer the questions.
-Continue until every student has had a chance to be under the umbrella.
VARIATIONS:
-Bring the rain clothes addressed in the lesson for the volunteer to wear during their turn and for the class to identify when they are asked what their peer is wearing.
-Do another round where students ask the question themselves so they practice the "I am" vs "You are" vocabulary.
-Have students also take turns being the one to respond so each has a turn to individually ask and answer.
MAKING THE CONNECTION:
-Review the vocabulary and key sentences before beginning.
-Use the key sentences when asking the question and enforce the correct phrasing when the class is answering.
-Clarify the correct gender pronoun with each student.
-Do another review at the end.
